You got a better chance of Moshiach than a Super Bowl.

And this comes from a Lions fan LOL

I grew up outside of Boston, rooting for the Red Sox during their decades of exile. Then came 2004... the ALCS comeback from 3-0 against the Yankees (aka The Evil Empire)... and then, finally, a World Series championship. The NESN documentary about that historic season was called Faith Rewarded.

Keep the faith, Ted!

Hey Alan, Kenny Harrelson gave me an autographed Louisville Slugger back in the’60’s when he and Mickey Mantle and a few others came to Savannah. Either his mom or his aunt worked for my grandfather. So I feel you.

I'm not a jew, but I'm a zionist, a Christian zionist, and a Patriots fan. Sorry.

Even tougher to be an Indianapolis Colts fan.

I don't believe in Moshiach which I consider to be a Jewish heresy. But I liked your essay which brought a smile to my lips. Good thing Israel is better at winning than the Chargers. We Jews have to learn to be brutal with our enemies, as the Torah teaches, and so do the Chargers. Perhaps the Chargers should read the Torah. It may help them win in the post-season.

I never heard that premise before, please explain the Jewish foundation for stating the belief that mashiach is a Jewish heresy, genuinely curious.

There is no mention of Maschiach in the Torah. It crept into Judaism via the prophets and the collapse of Jewish sovereignty in ancient Israel. That's why every time a maschiach shows up he is denounced as a false one. The Jewish messiah is the messiah who never comes. The covenant between God and the Jewish people at Sinai was a two-way deal that required no messiah and still requires no messiah, only the agreement of Jews to carry through on the deal. What are we waiting for?

Excellent summation

I get it

Thank you

It was a tough game to watch, but a good season for the Chargers. As for the Jews, it was a close thing but with a lot of (literal) blood, sweat and faith, we finally won the statehood superbowl in 1948, and we have been defending our crown, the Jewish state, ever since.

I feel like Jews are more like the Buffalo Bills. Always a contender, never grasping the ring.

This is delightful. I grew up a Lions fan but am now (also) a Steelers fan because my son is hopelessly devoted. Last night was tough. Am Yisrael Chai.

Great analogy, Ted. Our survival in the face of overwhelming odds is a victory in itself.

NY Mets fan here. Slow roller up the line thru Buckner’s legs. On the other hand as a Knicks fan, was too young to remember 1970 & 1973. Am still traumatized by Charles Smith.
