Their eyes were watching Rafah, But their heart was someplace else, They could not see Naama, And the innocent Jews in hell. They only saw the fire, They only saw the flames, They knew not why they burned, Or why Holy Land was maimed. Inside this Gazan Hell, The demons are at leisure, They themselves a city darkly, Tunnels built for human treasure. But their eyes did not perceive this, For they did not really look, They took the demons for the damned, And in fake grief they shook. Now their eyes are blind, In Rafah they see naught, 6ix innocents at point blank range, Who these monsters shot. Three hundred days, They lived down there, In a land where men are beasts, They were so strong, And stronger still, And stronger, still, than grief. But now they’re gone, After so long, I pray that they’re at peace. So close to home, To hear our voice, That now will never cease.
