This year, I saw my friends turn their backs on me. Next year, I will turn my back to no one. This year, I was lied to. Next year, I will not speak the truth – I will shout it. This year, my heart was broken by a cruel and callous world. Next year, I will use my broken heart to rebuild this broken world. This year, I lost my faith in humanity. Next year, I will put my faith in G-d and His people. This year, the classrooms were filled with lies and libel. Next year, I will teach the truth, regardless of the consequences. This year, Jews were killed in cold blood. Next year, we will celebrate in warm joy. This year, the world abandoned us. Next year, when the world calls, I will answer. This year, I lost my faith in you. Next year, I will put my faith in me. This year, I was scared. Next year, I will be convicted. This year, I was lost and lonely. But, next year? Next year I’m coming. -- The New Year's Mantra

Well done. Maybe “I will live by my convictions” rather than “be convicted?!” Great message of strength and yes, conviction.
