Dedicated to Patricia Ann Cimaroli Massari and Her Unborn Child
(9/11 memorial that includes the name “Patricia Ann Cimaroli Massari and Her Unborn Child)
Earlier today, I went to the 9/11 Memorial in lower Manhattan. Surrounding a black pit where the towers used to stand are the names of all of the innocent people who lost their lives on that tragic day nearly 23 years ago.
I stopped cold when I saw the words “unborn child.” I was only two and half years old when the hateful monsters of Al Qaeda brought all these innocent lives to an untimely end, and I guess I had never considered the idea that children my age or even younger died then.
But, unlike October 7th, there was a kind of comfort that came from knowing that the 9/11 hijackers targeted adult institutions. When one thinks of corporate offices and the Pentagon, one does not conjure up the images of children. But tragically, there must have been more who died when I had ever thought about. Children with their parents on the planes, a handful of kids visiting their parents in the office, anyone who might have been unlucky enough to be near the towers when they fell – and all of the unborn children in their loving mothers’ wombs.
I thought a lot about that child. They would be turning 23 soon. Their “Jordan” year as some like to call it – but they would never knew Michael Jordan – they would never know anything.
Killing children is the greatest evil. It is the highest form of malice, and it achieves no end. It simply deprives the world.
It feels improper to label child killers as “Terrorists.”
The word “terrorist” comes from the reign of Robespierre in the French Revolution. When he came to power and felt the national fervor for the revolution waning, he declared that “terror” would be the order of the day, and he used the guillotine to terrify anyone who was not in line with his politics.
But as despicable as Robespierre was, he never engaged in the killing of children.
Terrorists, historically, used violence as a means to some political end.
But what is end for Hamas? What was the end for Al Qaeda?
Simply more killing.
There is no political endgame for the people we mislabel as Islamic Terrorists.
Robespierre wanted a Republic, the Irish Republican Army wanted sovereignty, and ETA (the Basque terrorist group) wanted independence. The same is true of the Irgun and the Lehi for those who label them as terrorist organizations.
But in the big kid world of real politics, there is truth to the idea that one man’s terrorist is another man’s freedom fighter.
Which is why it is inappropriate to call people in these organizations terrorists. They are beneath even that.
Movements we have historically labeled as terrorism had basic principles they would not cross. Since they claimed to represent a larger group, if they ever did something outside of the realm of basic humanity, they would lose all of their popular support.
They did not target children.
They did not kidnap babies.
They did not militarize schools.
These things were all outside the bounds of what any terr
But the terrorists of today serve a much darker lord than the terrorists of before.
That is why we should call them what they really are – idolatrous barbarians child-killers.
As I write this, I am painfully aware of the irony that this is precisely what they call the Jews – but that is all the more telling. One of Joseph Goebbels’ great propaganda lessons was that you should always accuse your enemy of that which you are guilty.
Which is why Paliwood has so many child stars and yet there are UNRWA school employees who took the weekend off from teaching by setting fire to cribs in Kibbutzim.
Hamas, and all those who have been complicit in their depravity, are worshippers of Moloch.
They serve a demon-deity by stealing the dreams of children and sacrificing them to their dark idols.
They are an insult to the legacy of Abraham.
Muhammed, like all worship the G-d of Abraham, despised child sacrifice.
One of the commandments in Judaism is: “do not pass your child through the fires of Molech.”
Molech was a Canaanite idol whose devotees would have ecstatic Bacchanals a blazing hot bronze statue of Molech and then, at the peak moment of their fervor, would place their babies in the scalding hot hands of the statue as a sacrifice to the god of their frenzy.
Is that not what Hamas does everyday?
They have placed their own children in the line of fire because they hope their deaths might serve their ungodly cause.
They have turned the schools and playgrounds of Gaza into shrines for this violence.
They have surrounded their unholy instruments of war with their most vulnerable kids, using children the to protect rockets the way Jews use a cover to protect the Torah.
Terrorist is far too good a name for these people, and to call them Islamic is an insult to the millions of Muslims who want nothing more than for their children to grow up in peace and comfort.
Good people, the world over, want the best for children. Not all good people want kids, not all good people have kids, not all good people like kids, but one cannot be a good person if you wish ill upon the children of the world.
And Hamas and its ilk want nothing more than ill for the children of the world.
Their idolatrous fanaticism is so great that it is not enough for them to target Israeli children and make war on our kids – now they make war on their own.
There can be no comparison between these monsters and the political terrorists of the past.
In addition to everything else these monsters have taken from the world, their greatest crime is stealing the dreams of the world’s children, born and unborn.
Who knows what Patricia Ann Cimaroli Massari’s unborn child would have brought into the world? Who can count how many people’s days would have been brightened by her smile? Or how much laughter he would have added to the world? We will never know. We will never even know what their name would have been.
I dedicate this piece to that poor unborn child, and all of the other children who never got to experience the beauty of this world because their dreams were stolen by The Dream Thieves of Molech.
There is no greater evil in the world.
May G-d deal with them how they have dealt with the children of world.
