Glory to the Mothers
A Mother's Day Tribute to my mom and all of the other strong Jewish mothers out there
When I look into the Sabbath Lights, I’ll tell you what I see, I see the warmth of Mothers’ eyes, Gazing through eternity. For some things are eternal, Like the war against the dark, And some things never break, Like the love in a mother’s heart. When I smell the sabbath meal, The ancient smell of home, I know my mother’s with me, And that I’ll never be alone. My mother is a badass, She doesn’t take no shit, But she is also kindness, Holding both within her grip. When I look into the Sabbath Lights, I see my grandma too, I see her love within the flame, Like her eyes of flaming blue. My mother and her mother, And her mother’s mother too, Somehow found the strength, To carry all the Jews. For since the Days of Egypt, Of exile and pogrom, The world has tried to crush the Jews Like a bug beneath a thumb. And when our backs were broken, And we thought of giving up, Our mothers’ kept the faith, And filled our homes with love. Some mothers make roast chicken, Some make Tadiq and Kebab, Some mothers have ten children, And some mothers may have none. Some mothers work all day, Some mothers make the home, But every mother is great, And deserves a cherished throne. Happy Mother’s Day, To my mother and to yours, There’s nothing that a mother’s strength, Could not help you endure. When I look into the Sabbath Lights, I see the generations, Of all the Jewish Mothers, Who saved our sacred nation. Glory to the mothers, Glory to the women, Glory to the loving heart, Of the world’s oldest religion.

Glory to the son
Who sings his mother's praise
And glory to the poet
Who recites his people's ways.
Glory to the man
Who speaks of light amidst the dark
And glory to the Jew
Whose bite is far worse than his bark.
Am Yisrael chai and you too.
